As I explained in a blog entry, I don't really see the point of an about me page, but for those of you who are interested, here's a bit of background about me.

My name is Laura Melton. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, but I have not really lived there since I was 16. That was when I left to be an exchange student in France for a year. I finished up my last year of high school in Texas and then left for college. Those four years were also broken up by a year-long study-abroad excursion to Hamburg, Germany. My undergraduate majors were European Studies and German Cultural Studies. I spent the next two years in the MLIS program at the University of Washington and graduated in June 2004.

From April 2003 until July 2005 I worked for the King County Library System (near Seattle, Washington) as a systems librarian.

My life up to and through college is detailed on my undergrad website. On that site there's a page of photos up to the year 2000 as well as my Hamburg online journal. There's also my professional-ish grad school site. (Those pages used to be on the UW student servers, but since I've graduated, I no longer have that webspace.)
